UX Writing

At SCAD, I often create and edit copy for mobile apps based on partner (client) feedback. I work with our interactive and development teams to create digital products for users that’s easy to navigate. See samples below.

bokay.co

About the project: BOKAY is a new company that was created to give customers complete control of their flower arrangements, where they choose each detail of their bouquet — right down to the vase. I was hired to develop and edit copy for most of the website: homepage, “How to” section, help section, “About us” section, flower meanings page, and FAQ page.

Challenge: To reflect the new company with festive, encouraging, and personal copy — and to emphasize how the customer receives a unique online shopping experience that only BOKAY can provide.

Solution: I researched competitive floral websites to gain an understanding of the floral industry’s style. I assessed what made BOKAY stand out from competitors and emphasized these points throughout the website.

SCAD Day mobile experience

About the project: SCAD Day is an on-campus open house event in Atlanta and Savannah, and the mobile experience within the SCAD app makes it easy for users (prospective students and their families) to navigate the university’s locations, programs, and application for admission. My job for this project was to edit and develop content across the platform for a user-friendly experience.

Challenge: To make the app (and SCAD) easy to navigate for people who have never visited SCAD locations.

Solution: I worked with our interactive, development, and admission teams to edit and revise content from the user’s point of view. This included several rounds of review where we reduced and revised copy while maintaining clarity.

SCAD Sidewalk Arts Festival

About the project: The SCAD Sidewalk Arts Festival is an annual university event that allows students, alumni, professors, staff, and high school students to submit their themed artwork for prizes. The festival typically takes place in Forsyth Park in Savannah; however, the festival was virtual for the first time in 2020 due to COVID.

Challenge: To write informative and instructive copy for a newly designed webpage, which included submission forms.

Solution: I developed copy with our admission and interactive teams to make sure the website followed an intuitive flow for contestant submissions. The website and forms were tested throughout development to ensure ease of use.

SCAD Hong Kong Fashion Showcase

About the project: The 2020 SCAD Hong Kong Fashion Showcase mobile experience was designed to help attendees navigate the student fashion show in Hong Kong. The show took place in multiple areas of the SCAD Hong Kong building and featured designs from 30 student collections. The app made it easy for guests to locate each design throughout campus.

Challenge: To make the app (and SCAD) easy to navigate for guests and fashion influencers.

Solution: I worked with our interactive and development teams, and fashion department in Hong Kong to develop content from the user’s point of view.

This is the error message for my website. I wanted to create copy that’s conversational and represents me (and hopefully keeps the user on my site 😉).
